Friendship.
It’s truly one of the most beautiful things we can participate in as human beings.
This week we are going to explore how we can be “superheroes” in our friendships.
When we claim the power we have to both give and receive friendship, our lives will be richer, our burdens lighter, our souls full of joy and peace that surpasses all understanding.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said,
“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship.”
What happens in our lives when we find someone that believes in us? And not only believes in us, but trusts us to be in their lives?
We feel invincible, right?
Like we can conquer anything – any hurdle, any fear, and void.
Any time I have some “big” thing in life, I find that it is my friends that “carry me” through it.
It requires vulnerability on my end to let them know my weaknesses or fears, but once I do that . . . . the fact that they believe in me and communicate that so freely, it changes things!
Friends – gut level friends – see things in us we don’t see in ourselves.
They push us and remind us to see with their eyes . . . and once we take a step back and do that, we are reminded that perhaps we do have that “superhero cape.”
And the great news is, we don’t have to figure it out all by ourselves. God leads and nudges people into our lives so that we can experience the pure love of human friendship.
What can you to to recognize the friends that pour into you? And how can you claim the love and life-giving power that gives you?
Go live today with that superhero cape. Knowing there are people in your life that believe in you with a spiritual inspiration. They are true gifts from God.
24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
-Proverbs 18:24
