Maybe you are their Rudolph…

Rudolph could have stayed in the spotlight.

He had earned his place, hadn’t he? After years of rejection and mockery, he was leading Santa’s sleigh, the hero of Christmas Eve, with the world finally seeing what he’d known all along—his nose was his gift, not his flaw. He could have basked in the glow (pun intended) and left his past behind, but Rudolph didn’t.

Instead, he went back. Back to the Island of Misfit Toys.

Can you imagine that moment? The forgotten toys—waiting, hoping, but probably resigning themselves to being overlooked yet again—look up, and there’s Rudolph. The one who knows what it feels like to be unwanted. The one who understands their loneliness. And he’s not just there to visit—he’s there to rescue them.

Rudolph didn’t forget them, just like Jesus doesn’t forget us.

The truth is, life can feel a lot like that island sometimes, can’t it? We look around at the shiny, “perfect” people and feel like we don’t belong. Maybe it’s the weight of past mistakes, the scars we carry, or the quiet fear that we’re just too much or not enough. But then comes the reminder: Jesus hasn’t forgotten.

Jesus, who left the perfection of heaven for the messiness of earth, doesn’t just see us; He comes for us. He enters the storm, the silence, the rejection, and He brings us home.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” —Romans 10:13
***Don’t forget, “saved” means transformed.

Everyone.

Not just the polished or the popular.

Everyone.

Jesus doesn’t glance over the misfits. He seeks them out.

But let’s not stop there. Because here’s the thing about grace: it’s not meant to stay with us. Grace is like Rudolph’s glowing nose—it shines brightest when it’s shared.

So the question becomes: who are the misfits in your life and what do you share?

We all know someone, don’t we?

The person who’s been left out, overlooked, or pushed aside.

The one who feels like they’re stuck on an island, waiting for someone to notice, someone to care.

And maybe—just maybe—you’re their Rudolph.

This Advent season, let’s take a cue from that red-nosed reindeer. Let’s go back for the ones who feel forgotten. Let’s remind them that with Jesus, no one gets left behind. Let’s carry the light of Christ into the places that need it most—the islands, the shadows, the storms.

Because with Jesus, there are no misfits—only beloved children, each one seen, valued, and loved beyond measure.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being the one who comes back for us, for the light that shines even when we feel forgotten. Teach us to be like Rudolph—to go back, to reach out, to carry Your light into the dark places. Let us see the people You see, love the ones You love, and remind the world that You never leave anyone behind. Amen.
