Recently I had the opportunity to accidentally see the Blue Angels practicing. Simply walking down a street and hearing a loud roaring noise above, I looked up, and four planes flew over my head. They were practicing for an air show that would be performed later that week.

The Blue Angels is a flight demonstration squadron of the US Navy. Its mission is to showcase the teamwork and professionalism of the US Navy and Marine Corps through flight demonstrations and community outreach while inspiring a culture of excellence and service to the country. All afternoon they practiced with different formations and flybys.

The skill and precision are necessary to do what they did leave me pondering the importance of timing. And how ultimately, timing is everything.

Sometimes we are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Other times we are misfortunate, and we end up at the wrong place at the wrong time. (Ever been there?)

This weekend we will be talking about the power of time/timing.

I’d like to leave you pondering this statement a wise clergy friend shared with me recently. Some say the statement originated with the early church mystics, others say it is from Lao Tzu. It helped me put a few “icky” life things in perspective.

“When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”

What can you learn when you are at a particular place and time, even if it is uncomfortable or difficult? When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

Grace and Peace,

Andrea
